Tire Construction Options:

* EXCEPT VEE TWINZ (27 TPI) and Vee Mission 26 x 4 (60TPI)Vee Rubber Tire Features and Options:Bicycle tires begin with a base material called the ‘casing’. The casing is the backbone of the tire. It is a layer of fabric to which all other material is applied. The casing fabric comes in different types of constructions and has several different Threads Per Inch (TPI).

Typically the lower the TPI, the more rubber needs to be applied to the material and hence a heavier constructed tire. The higher the number of TPI, the less rubber is typically applied, and hence, a lighter and more supple feeling tire to ride on. The higher TPI casing material does cost more.

What is best for you? Depending on your riding style you should select a tire for your needs. If you are just a casual rider and weight and price is not important than go with the lower TPI. If you are a cycling enthusiast and ride often a higher TPI casing would be better for you. Vee Rubber offers casing material in 27,70,90 and 120TPI. The Power Series and Performance Series Tires are all 120 TPI*. All VeeRubber Premium Tires will show the TPI on the sidewall of the tire . Where the name of the tire model is located.

Vee Rubber Tire Features and Options:

Tires can be produced with many features and options. Vee Rubber can build tires to any specification or purpose. Below are some of the options.

Flat Prevention Material:

- Refers to Puncture Resistance period and can be accomplished with either a heavier casing, more rubber or with a certain type of material added into the construction of the tire. It can be under the tread or from side to side of the tire.

- Refers to Aramid Belt and this is a layer of puncture resistant material applied under the tread area during the construction process.

- Refers to Heavy Duty and this is achieved by making the rubber extremely tough and resistant to punctures.

Tread Compounds:

- Refers to Puncture Resistance period and can be accomplished with either a heavier casing, more rubber or with a certain type of material added into the construction of the tire. It can be under the tread or from side to side of the tire.

- Refers to Soft Compound and this means the entire surface of the tread section is a softer stickier compou

- Refers to Normal Compound and this is what most tires are typically constructed with on the tread section.

- Refers to Race Compound and this is a special softer compound used mostly for downhill racing.

Bead Types:

- Refers to Wire Bead and this is typically used in most bicycle tires. It is also used in car tires, motorcycle tires and ATV tires for reference.

- Refers to Folding Bead and this is used to for several reasons: it lightens the weight of the tire to decrease rolling resistance, and it makes installing the tire and removing the tire easier. Cycling enthusiasts prefer Folding Bead tires.

Safety Feature:

Refers to reflective tape-and this is applied to the sidewall of the tire to make the tire reflective when car/truck lights shine on it. Bicycle riding at night is dangerous, and riders need to exercise additional caution when riding at night. Use lights front and rear on the bicycle, use approved CPSC bicycle reflectors and wear a reflective vest. Never assume you have been seen by the driver of any motor vehicle while riding at night. Always wear a helmet when riding anytime.

Sealant Compatible Tires:

Refers to Sealant Compatible Tires. These are tires that have a special construction to allow the use of an aftermarket sealant material in the tire. There is no need for a tube in SCT tires. Small punctures in the tire are sealed by the Aftermarket sealant. As each aftermarket sealant manufacturer has a different formula and uses special rim strips or valves, consult with them for proper use and set up. Vee Rubber warranties only SCT tires for use with sealants. Using sealants in any Vee Rubber Non-SCT tire will void the warranty.

Universal System Tubeless:

- Refers to Wire Bead and this is typically used in most bicycle tires. It is also used in car tires, motorcycle tires and ATV tires for reference.Refers to double walled or 2 ply construction of the tire casing the need to use a tube in these tires.
